This is the home of Nathaniel B. Smithson (photo courtesy of Ronny Mangrum, current resident/owner). It was built in approximately 1835, in Peytonsville, TN, on what was then known as Hurricane Creek (currently known as Starne's Creek, or Peytonsville Creek). Peytonsville is just outside Franklin. N.B. Smithson was my great, great, great-grandfather. Nathaniel's father John was a soldier in the Revolutionary War, his oldest son, Samuel Cheatham Smithson was my g-g-grandfather. Samuel married Matilda Secrest, daughter of John Secrest, a Revolutionary War soldier. |
